About Our Artist, Nam Nguyen

After a successful engineering career of 37 years in the electronics and computer industry, Nam decided to walk away from it all in order to practice full time Western calligraphy which has been his life-long passion. Aching for new experiences beyond the calligrapher's traditional tool/medium of pen/paper, Nam found his calling in hand-engraving elegant calligraphic messages on non-paper media such as glass, crystal, metal, etc. using a very-high-speed dental drill (300,000 rpm.)

These days Nam enjoys helping his clients by hand-engraving their personal messages onto a variety of items such as glassware, wine/liquor/fragrance bottles, knives, rifles, glass stones, ornaments, and a multitude of other objects which are presented as gifts or keepsakes for special occasions such as wedding, anniversary, graduation, birthday, promotion, etc.

Nam is currently residing in Austin, TX, and is available to fulfill hand- engraving requests from individuals, on-site special events, as well as corporate accounts.

He has done on-site engraving events ranging from LAPHROAIG (Scotch whiskey) to JO MALONE LONDON (fragrance).

Engraving Fees

Typically on-site/corporate-event engraving fee is $150/hour at a minimum of 4 hours if within Austin, TX city limit and at a minimum of 4 hours + mileage if outside Austin, TX city limit. Please call for a quote and scheduling availability.

Engraving Fees

A flat fee of $40 per item for hand-engraving a message of up to 5 words + gold or silver inlay in lettering on item. Each additional word is $5 (a word is defined as one which has more than one letter in the English alphabet.)
Numerical date is ONE word, example: 04-20-2019
If you want to spell the date out, such as "April 20, 2019", then it is counted as TWO words.
There is no charge for single letter such as "a" and any punctuation.
On wine/spirit bottle, the engraving will be on the side of bottle, between the front and back labels, and reading from bottom to top of bottle.
Call Nam for a quote on large order, complex layout, customized project, or engraving on bottle retailing for $200 or more and larger than 750 ml.
Typical turn-around time is 24 hrs. If same-day service is required, an additional fee may be added.
